Acerola (Malpighia glabra, Malpighia punicifolia)
Brief Background:
Acerola is believed to originate in the Yucatan and is distributed from South Texas to northern South America and through the Caribbean. Acerola juice is a rich source of vitamin C and has been used as a supplement for both adults and infants. Acerola has also been shown to be a source of beta-carotene.
Acerola has been reported in the scientific literature to prevent age-related diseases. It also has been shown to have anti-bacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis and multidrug resistance reversal activity.
Acerola may have been used historically to treat and prevent scurvy.

Healers have used acerola to treat liver ailments, diarrhea, dysentery, coughs, colds and sore throat. As one of the richest sources of vitamin C, acerola has been used as an immune stimulator and modulator.

Mix lemon juice, rose water and glycerin in equal quantities. Apply daily before retiring to bed. Eat a lot of green vegetables like spinach, cabbage, beans, peas, lettuce, etc. A salad and fruit should be taken daily.
