Chickweed (Stellaria media) 

Brief Background:
Common chickweed (Stellaria media) is a wild plant that is indigenous to South Africa. There is also evidence of ethnobotanical use of Stellaria holostea in the Acquapendente district of Italy, in Canada and in Scotland.

Expert Opinion and Historic/Folkloric Precedent:
Helpful in its use to relieves nasal congestion.   Useful for bronchitis, circulatory problems, colds, coughs, and skin diseases.  It is also another good source of vitamin C and other nutrients.   

Chickweed has a great value in treating blood toxicity, fevers, and inflammation.  Herbal textbooks recommend chickweed (poultice, ointment, oil, or salve) as a topical remedy for skin conditions, including cuts, wounds, itching, irritation, psoriasis, eczema and other skin rashes.
